the link between creativity and play

another of the ted talks - this one about something very close to my heart - the idea of the connections between creativity and play - speaker tim brown opens out the powerful relationship between creativity and play . . . think of a world in which even the most serious work was imbued with creativity and play . . .

I totally agree with this concept. Don't have time for the whole talk this morning. I must come back later...

hey willow, mmmm hmmmmm! i walk into my classroom every day with one big goal in mind and that is to give back my kids their right to think and then to teach them how to use that thinking creatively - and sometimes that looks mighty beautiful and sometimes it looks mighty sloppy and sometimes - the most serendipitous and powerful times - it looks like both.

p.s. i have another ted talk coming up that i really really like hat digs into the stratification of education and how that has marginalized education. the best thing is it's a really really funny speaker passing on deep and thoughtful perceptions.

I had a chance to listen this morning before leaving the house. He's one of those kinds of people who, after you've heard what he has to say, makes you want to stand up from your chair and yell, "Yeah!" while pumping your fists up and down in the air and then run outside to conquer the world.

Will look forward to the next one you post. Good stuff.
