black history month

rosa parks' booking photo.

black history month has begun here in canada and with it the opportunity to more thoroughly address the history of people who for no other reason than the colour of their skin, endured indignities and suffering beyond measure.

what better, more powerful way to kick off this special remembrance and celebration than with billie holiday's mesmerizing and haunting rendition of "strange fruit" . . . .

an excellent and rich site that chronicles the black experience in north america can be visited here.
