daka design's pin clock


as you can see, this is a very interesting clock. the clock face is 3,000 pins arranged side-by-side. as each minute passes, pins lift and retract, to display the current time. a quiet “click” sounds with every change, and a transparent cover keeps out curious fingers. the cover might seem like overkill but if you are like me and you recall the strange sensation of those toys that you could press shapes into that were essentially the same design premise as the pin clock you’ll understand why!

the only drawback i can see to this clock (other than the irrepressible urge i think i would have to play with the clock face thereby messing up the time) is that it runs exclusively on batteries - 4 c batteries to be precise. to view a brief video of the pin clock, have a look:
