as above, so below

the hermeticists may not have had my use of the maxim “as above, so below” in mind when it was written into the emerald tablet (which in isaac newton’s translation appears as “that which is below is like that which is above and that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing.”). indeed in the entire corpus of hermetica you’d likely be hard-pressed to find an allusion to something as simplistic as a visual connection between earth and sky but on a spring-like sunday afternoon at the end of a restful holiday break, i’ll head where my heart wanders!

i took these pictures of the sky early yesterday evening as the sun was low on the horizon.


i took these pictures of the snow this afternoon.


why both have lines ingrained in them is something that a meteorologist and a snow scientist could likely expain, but for me it is the surprising confluence of that feature in both images at around the same time that intrigues me.
