the post-it post

hoooweee! friday morning - a long week. busy with lots of extra details and diversions.

post-it notes are so much a part of my daily life, i cannot imagine not having them there. my students have their own packs of post-its to track comprehension strategies as they read novels. i use them to track my needs, my wants, my wishes, my must-do’s, my cannot forgets, i even have master post-it notes to organize my post-it notes!

the history of the post-it note is an oft retold story. from the accidental discovery of an adhesive that had enough stickum to stick but not enough to stick permanently, to its eventual application through a serendipitous brainwave as an adhesive strip on notes of all shapes and sizes, post it notes are a part of almost everybodies’ lives.

i guess it’s an obvious use to someone who has a creative mind and some time, but even though i’ve doodled on many many post-it notes, i hadn’t really thought about using them as art until i came across a couple of sites dedicated to the simple art of post-it illustration. the first is named sticky note theatre.

this page - well it’s one entry on a blog - has some really lovely work incorporating post-it notes. i especially like the room decorations and the decorated cars. have a look.

here’s some video time lapse footage of an office being post-it noted . . .

the primo numero uno most bestest wickedgood site i’ve seen connected to post-it notes is right here. the post-it project has some fine little artworks sitting in its daily grab bag submitted by the bloggers themselves and then also bloggers from around the world who have shared their work.

post-it note stories has the writings of nine authors, on post-it notes! some of the stories are hilarious - some are ... well different . . . all are thought provoking.

post-it note animation. here is a very clever example of what can be done with a bazillion post-it notes and a clever, maybe even crazed mind with lots of spare time.
